I started and created this blog long before becoming a community organizer, it was in 2012. At the time I was attending Antioch University, a social justice academic institutions. I never thought I would become a community organizer and advocate on a legislative & policy level, as well as "grassroots", meaning on the field assisting people in need where they're at.
Skidrow in Downtown Los Angeles is composed of service providers (shelters/ missions, organizations...) Homeless people sleeping on public sidewalks in tents, outreach teams and now new luxury apartment lofts are emerging causing the area to be gentrified. The impact of gentrification is seen as detrimental for the poor but yet rich in heart, community of Skidrow. Many do welcome neighborhood improvement. they just don't want the homeless to be left out and pushed out.
The aspect of being inclusive rather than being exclusive becomes essential.
